Carla Marie Shaver, 71, of Marseilles, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Clark officiating.

She was born on August 8, 1953, in Ottawa, to Clement and Helen (Alexander) Hicks. On January 5, 1972, she married John Shaver of Ottawa, who preceded her in death in 2022.

Carla worked as a CNA in home health for many years and also babysat many kids whom she was like a grandma to. She loved gameshows, soap operas, and old time country music. She was a devoted wife, mom, and grammy to her little Peanie.

She is survived by her son, Chris of Palatine; her daughter, Candi of Marseilles; her granddaughter, Karlee of Marseilles; a brother, Howard (Myrna) Hicks of LaSalle; and her nieces and nephews, Jamie, Bobby (Deb), Paul (Beth), Aaron (Patience), David (Courtney), Mary (Dave), Ian, and Jonathan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Carole Miller; and one brother, Alex Hicks.
