Anne was born November 16, 1923 in South Wilmington, IL to Steve and Mary (Orolin) Faletto. She is survived by one sister, Gloria R. (Farmer) Eichelkraut, of Ottawa, IL; her nieces and nephews, Jon (Cheri) Faletto, Lisa (Kevin) Davis, Steve (Jan) Seaborn, Sally (Glen) Manich, Sherri Gorman and Carey Seaborn, David (Linda) Combs, Michael Combs, Greg Farmer, Amy (David) Swaar, Pam Blue, Patti Owens, and Jan (Bob) Kleinmaier; several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and her special friend, Chaya Johnson, whom Chaya referred to her as "Grandma Anne." Although Anne was never married, she was a loving mother to all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Mary Faletto; her brother, Phillip Faletto; her sisters, Mary Lou Combs and Rose Seaborn Peek; her sister-in-law, Beverly Faletto; her brothers-in-law, Glenn "Cedric" Combs, Albert "Sal" Seaborn, Don Farmer, and Wayne Eichelkraut; two nephews, Glenn "Bird" Combs and Christopher Faletto; a great nephew, Dominic Davis; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Anne attended Washington Grade School and Marseilles High School, graduating in 1941 as Valedictorian of her class. She attended College of St. Terese in Wenona, MN, a private Catholic College for girls on a full scholarship. She earned a bachelor of Arts in Social work in 1945, later earning a Masters of Social Work at Loyola University in Chicago in 1953. That is where her passion began, adoption became her specialty.
Anne worked in Cook County, IL. She worked for Catholic Charities for much of her career, serving Bishop Cody in St. Joseph, MO and Kansas City, MO. When Bishop Cody was elevated to Cardinal and moved to Chicago, Anne took a job with the State of California, living in Los Angeles, and finished her career with the State of Wisconsin. When Anne retired in 1983, she moved back to Marseilles, IL to care for her elderly parents and remained in the family home until age 100.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She also taught CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) for many years and served on the funeral dinner committee. Anne was involved in many organizations throughout her life including Catholic Charities, Director / Counselor of Illinois Valley Family Education Center, Illinois Valley Citizens for Life, and Home Extension. She was also involved in the 6th Annual Respect Life Dinner and many more organizations that were near and dear to her heart.
Anne loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved her church and was a faithful servant to God, and her job as a social worker helping countless families with adoption and counseling. She loved socializing and meeting new people and never knew a stranger. She also loved plays (notably "Hello Dolly"), music, picnics, swimming, boating, lounging, her cabin in Wisconsin (lovingly referred to as Dolly's Folly) and was visited countless times by family and friends, entertaining, a glass of wine or two, and traveling. She took many trips from the East Coast to the West Coast on business and for pleasure and traveled to Italy many times, taking her father back to his hometown of Salassa, Italy in 1959 on a business trip to Rome. She also took many of her nieces and nephews on trips that we will treasure forever. Her sense of humor, infectious laugh, and kind heartedness will be missed and treasured forever. We love and miss you, Aunt Dolly.
A special thank you to Anne's caregivers and to the staff, nurses, and CNAs for their loving care at the Pavilion of Ottawa and Vitas Hospice Care.
